Roach? - Luridiblatta trivittata - Female
Tiburon, Marin County, California, USA
October 29, 2009
Size: 7 mm
What is coming out the hind end? Sometimes whatever it was is green, not brown. About half of all the ones I saw had this. These move very fast. Locally very common.

Moved
Yes, and it is this egg case that demonstrates that this is a small, wingless cockroach species rather than just the immature stage of some common species. I had been hoping for an image of this species that included the ootheca- thanks for posting it. This image seems distorted to me. If the dimentions have been altered, could you re-upload another copy? I would like to post a thumbnail link to it on the info page of this species. Moved from ID Request.

I'm guessing...
Phyllodromica trivittata

Originally from areas around the Mediterranean, it would seem to be a relatively "new" species in California. The thing sticking out of the back is an ootheca, an egg case.
