Phalacridae

Phalacridae
Pawnee, Harrison County, Iowa, USA
July 27, 2009
Size: 3+ mm
Sweep net sample with adults and inside of grasses, larvae, pupa, and an adult.

Some Phalacridids (larvae and adults) feed on spores of fungi ("American Beetles", Arnett). I do not know the species of grass in the sample but this geographic area has a lot of tall fescue with an associated fungal endophyte.
