Lepyrus sp. - Lepyrus gemellus

Lepyrus sp. - Lepyrus gemellus
Alberta, Canada
July 19, 2005
I am confident that this is in the genus Lepyrus, and it matches this image on Cedar Creek. Because there are six North American species in the genus, I am hesitant to call it L. palustris. If anyone is familiar with the genus and can put a species name to this, then great. If not, it still needs a guide page, as the genus is a new one.

Lepyrus gemellus errans Casey
O'Brien det.

The guide pages
are not set up for two-word species. "errans" doesn't sound like a subspecies - but that's the only way to get it in - come to think of it - that's all it can be.

I can only find it as a synonym though.

yup...
the Canada checklist has only gemellus gemellus Kby., with no Alberta record, too...

Guide Page
Do you know what the taxonomy of this one is?

Sorry Chris
This is in the subfamily Cleoninae.

Page Done
I created the page and moved your picture to it.

Thanks Chris. I guess I really have to consider becoming an editor so that I can do these things myself, rather than bugging everyone else.
