Size: 10-12mm

Believe this is the basic ID, but wanted a confirm before moving to species.

Also looking for the sex if it can be determined from these shots. I assume a Male, but not sure.
Was only able to get 4 shots of this one before he took off.

Nice shots; wish you could have taken more.

Yes, it's a hairy maggot blow fly and yes again, it's a male. Eyes on female are much smaller and have white all around them.

I wish I could have gotten more as well. I will be checking the same plant the next few days to see if he returns.

I am assuming this is the right genus after looking at the 2 here. Please advise if this is incorrect.

I think you mean species, i.e. megacephala,

And I think you're right, though the Info page is a bit confusing.

Nice Pic.

A specimen of C.m. was collected, by a researcher, in the Indianapolis area in 2012. When we got the word at Saint Joseph's College in Rensselaer, IN, we had to go through every specimen that was collected in the Fall Semester Forensic Ento. class. Counting my personal specimens it was about 2,000. Haven't seen C.r. in Northwest IN, yet. The very cold winter may have knocked them down. Had them in 2013, 2012.
