Numbers
a single species in our area, 5 described spp. total (+dozens undescribed)(1) Micratopus aenescens (LeConte) is the only species under Micratopus "officially" reported in the USA. However, Bousquet (2012: 679) speculated about a second Florida species apparently also in Micratopus but may actually turn out to be the sister species Lymnastis americana Darlington known in Cuba. If a posted image appears sufficiently close to M. aenescens, it is best to place it under this species until someone makes a thorough study of Micratopus in the Western Hemisphere.
Size
1.2–3.0 mm(2)
