A Pair of Calliphorids? - Lucilia sericata

A Pair of Calliphorids? - Lucilia sericata
Encino, Los Angeles County, California, USA
October 20, 2005
Size: 1/4 inch
The smaller one (a male?) was following the larger one (a female?).

Sun angle (and my shadow?) probably accounts for the different coloration- it was very bright, early afternoon. Both flies seemed at the time more like the smaller fly in color.

Thanks!

Probably.
Pretty sure the bottom one is Lucilia. The top individual may be a female bloated with eggs, or the spores of a fungus.
