Question on Vermiculata... - Gnophaela vermiculata

Question on Vermiculata... - Gnophaela vermiculata
Powder Mountain, Weber County, Utah, USA
August 2, 2009
I noticed on this moth, what I supposed to be Vermiculata, that it and others I photographed the same day have a center white spot on the top of the wing that bleeds down into the lower row of white spots. This doesn't seem to be the case with other vermiculata on Bugguide. My other one I posted in 2004 has the same characteristic. Is this a subspecies or just a color variation in the West?
Thanks for the information, Bob. Will frass as this is a duplicate month in Utah.

Moved from Frass.

Your other image may have this
unusual color pattern, but it is hidden in the vegetation. We think this would be a great addition to the guide, and would recommend that it be moved to the guide page with your other image.

This is a Great Photo
I saved it to head the species page at MPG.
