Thread-legged Bug - Empicoris

Thread-legged Bug - Empicoris
Greenwood County, South Carolina, USA
October 21, 2005
Size: ~7mm, head to wingtips
This delicate little bug was moving actively on the side of my house near a light at night. ID from browsing BugGuide.

Empicoris sp.
Fantastic image! This is a specimen of the genus Empicoris. Please forgive my previous misidentification (as Stenolemus).

I have found one too.
If anyone is interested in taking a photo, I have one similar to this one, but about 5/8in long. It is currently living in a web with a small garden spider and her hundreds of hatchlings. I think it has been picking of the hatchlings one at a time. I have tried to take a picture, but my camera can't handle the small size. Norfolk, VA

Macro Mode
If your digital camera has a macro mode (usually a flower icon) you can get a bit closer to the insect. Then, if you've got enough pixels, you can crop out everything except the bug, and you might be left with an image big enough to post to BugGuide. Give it a try.
