Swamp flies mating - Chrysopilus proximus - male - female

Swamp flies mating - Chrysopilus proximus - Male Female
Ahnapee Trail, Kewanee, Door County, Wisconsin, USA
July 21, 2009
The female is the larger, lighter colored of the two and the male was far more passive, in fact looked dead (but wasn't), while the female was very alert.

Moved from Flies. It does kind of look like an atherid, but in athericids R2+3 meets R1 before the wing margin forming a closed cell. This is probably Chrysopilus but I'm not sure at the moment.

Rhagionidae?
Was going to say Athericidae at first but the wings don't seem right to me...
