Sallow larva on a Microgaster scopelosomae (Braconid) wasp cocoon - Eupsilia

Sallow larva on a Microgaster scopelosomae (Braconid) wasp cocoon - Eupsilia
New Salem, Franklin County, Massachusetts, USA
June 5, 2004
It looks like an Eupsilia vinulenta in Wagner's book (1) page 403, but I don't know if there's others that are look-alikes. And does anyone know what that white thing is under the caterpillar?

Maybe Red-winged Sallow.....
To me it looks more like Xystopeplus rufago on page 412 of Wagner. As to the thing underneath, I don't know, but once I found a sphinx caterpillar with a row of this-type thing on the ventral surface and they turned out to be cocoons of a very small wasp.

An Example
Here is a rather extreme example of what you're talking about.

yes, check out image
top row right, page 23, wagner - could be twin pictures - and he identifies the parasitoid too

Eupsilia larva
That's a nice page, besides the caterpillar , I now can identify 2 different wasp cocoons I've submitted to the guide. Thanks for being so dilligent.
