Hmm...
I keep coming across this spider and thinking that it may be misplaced(?) With those black slanted marks on the abdomen, it's more likely to be Neoscona arabesca than N. crucifera. I'm wondering what others' input on this would be...

 
Tricky one
I agree it's a tricky one. The leg hairs are mostly black which is also a sign of arabesca. However crucifera can have slanted marks like this one


and there is crossbreeding. I've requested that close-up of the scape (3 years later).

All this time later, I think it's probably actually in the right place in N. crucifera. :-)

Exactly matches the diagram in (1) -- "2 pairs of lateral bulges on the epigynal scape."

 
Great
I wanted the scape shot to be sure. Spiders can be quite variable as we all know and this really helps!
