Adalia bipunctata - Two spotted ladybeetle
believe it or not, this appears to be Adalia bipunctata - the Two spotted ladybeetle. Yours is one of many possible color variations, from black on red, all the way to red on black with the spots in different locations like yours. The red spots touching the shoulders is key, as this is different than almost every other "black with red spots" ladybirds (of which there are many). There's even some yellow on black like Lynette's, although I need to study her's a little further, as it seems much more convex than most.

The species appears to be widely distributed, including Europe. Do a web image search on Adalia bipunctata and you'll find lots of examples of the variations including yours. For a nice sample set, see http://www.gwydir.demon.co.uk/insects/coccinellidae.htm

nice set of photos to help with the ID, and addition to BugGuide!

Elegant Ladybeetle
Possibly a Hyperaspis genera ladybeetle, the markings are somewhat variable,. and some photos of it are very similar to this specimen.
