Spruce Budworm - Choristoneura fumiferana

Spruce Budworm - Choristoneura fumiferana
Harvard, Worcester County, Massachusetts, USA
July 4, 2004
Another unidentified caterpllar. Found this one on the deck, so I don't know what kind of plant it might have been on.

Any Fir or Spruce trees nearby?
Looks very much like a Spruce Budworm, Choristoneura fumiferana, that I used to work on in an earlier life. These guys pupate in the trees but are easily dislodged in the larval stage.

Yes
There's a row of spruce trees about 50 feet from where I found this one. I found a match for this Spruce Budworm on the internet. Thanks for the ID Tony.
