blond mordelid - Mordellistena

blond mordelid - Mordellistena
Nashua, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, USA
July 11, 2005
First and only blond tumbling flower beetle I've seen.

Moved

look at Mordellistena arida LeConte, 1862
here (NB: not an ID)

Thanks
I didn't know about the importance of tibial ridges at the time, or size either apparently :-[
I have since seen a number of blond mordelids.

unfortunately,
w/o ridge counts, there's a least several other candidates. M. lutea Melsheimer (type should be at MCZ but Liljeblad could not find it) is a smaller version of M. arida. And check out M. tosta LeConte from the MCZ if you like. The elongated form seems to better match Jim's image (but it could just be orientation perspective).
