Syrphid fly of some kind - Platycheirus

Size: ~8mm total length.
Saw this fly on Argyanthemum in our garden. (live oak/chaparral habitat). I assume it's a syrphid of some kind.

An expert visits from time to time and may be able to provide species ID.
