Some info of interest
From Matt Wallace: "This species is in a bit of turmoil, I am currently working on it. The holotype of T. salvini is from Central America, and is much larger than the T. salvini specimens ID’d in Florida, so I am pretty sure they are separate. Thus, the SE U.S. specimens will likely be renamed in the future." Matt says that this is a good representation of the southeastern "salvini".

Thanks very much for the info. Any idea of when it will have a new name? and will someone rename this one?

update
This is T. subfalcata, female. T. salvini occurs in Central America.

Telamona species?
Hi, Carol. I'm not an expert, but your hopper's body shape looks very similar to the species found in the genus Telamona. Feel free to browse through the images by following the link, but you should wait for Dr. Hamilton or someone else with more expertise to confirm.

Welcome to BugGuide!

Telamona salvini
the sharp tip on the crest is distinctive

Telamona salvini
Thank you so very much for the ID. I had looked through all the different species of Telamona and I just didn't pick up on it. I think I might have a photo of the nymph of this one. I will post it and you can see what you think. They were taken at the same time. Again, many thanks. Carol

Tree Hopper
Hi, Harsi. Thank you for the comment. I have looked through many pages of Tree Hoppers and just can't seem to find it. Maybe someone will know which one it is.
