Mayfly, Juvenile - Leptophlebia

Mayfly, Juvenile - Leptophlebia
Northampton, Massachusetts, USA
April 28, 2004
This mayfly nymph was collected by my friend, entomologist Faith Deering, from an 8 ft. vernal pond and photographed by me.

Faith collected quite a few water insects, which I'll be sure to post here.

Leptophlebia
Tony-

Gills look to me like those of Leptophlebia. What did Faith Deering say?

Thanks Roger,
Faith didn't say, however L. cupida has been photographed in the area both by me and Tom...

Leptophlebiidae, maybe
The overall appearence suggests the family. The details of gill structure is required to get much deeper.

Thanks Kerry,
I'll move it there for now until we hear otherwise:)
