Silverfish 1

Silverfish 1
Odenton, Anne Arundel County, Maryland, USA
March 23, 2007
Found in basement (with lots of books and documents).

Looks like a Gray Silverfish (Ctenolepisma longicaudata)
It's clearly a silverfish as opposed to firebrat, and the hairy look makes it a Ctenolepisma species. I know of only two Ctenolepismas in North America, C. lineata and C. longicaudata. Lineata can be ruled out because it has a striped pattern, so that leaves us with Ctenolepisma longicaudata.
Unfortunately, silverfish are just now recovering from a terrible taxonomic wrangle, and you may see this species referred to as Ctenolepisma urbana or Urban Silverfish.

Looks like
an ordinary domestic silverfish to me.
