Size: very small
This critter was collected on Rubus sp. and brought into the lab. I photographed it with my digital macro lens through the 7x setting of my stereoscope. Each one of these "two-eyed shields" was scurrying around the leaf. Sometimes they would all clump up. We were there for a lichen workshop but several of us were totally fascinatd by these.

Whitefly "pupae?"
I have been researching whiteflies for my field guide, and it turns out they have a "pupal" stage, which these objects strongly resemble. You might try looking into that anyway:-)
