Found in an Oak Tree

Size: 2.5 inches
This worm like bug was found in an oak tree. The larger circle in photo is the head and the small round sections seem to be the tail.

larva of a wood-boring beetle, fam. Buprestidae
the wide part is the thorax -- the head is mostly hidden inside it but you can see the dark mandibles; the beaded 'tail' is the abdomen.
