Twisted-winged Insect (Xenos sp.) parasites - Xenos peckii
Bear, New Castle County, Delaware, USA
September 4, 2009
Strepsiptera is a known parasite of Polistes fuscatus - I am looking for confirmation and possible further identification of parasites in this image.

Moved from Xenos.

Moved from ID Request. Thanks Jeff! Thanks Blaine! You guys are awesome!

Xenos
is the genus found in Polistes, yes. These are the empty puparia of males, as females remain in the host.

Nice
I pulled the image down and tinkered with it in Photoshop. Looks like a spent puparium on the left and a female (to me at least) on the right.

Probably Xenos, but please wait for further confirmation.

Nice find!
