Apheloria or Sigmoria? How does one differentiate between these two genera? And then, which species did I find? Is there a published key to the species of Xystodesmidae of the eastern U.S.? Thanks for any and all assistance!

With the yellow middorsal spotted color pattern, this can only be Apheloria virginiensis montana. Aphelor, Sigmoria, and a host of other genera are distinguished by their male gonopods primarily, but this is much too complex a topic to get into here. Rowland Shelley

Thanks!
Thank you very much for your id. I am very interested in learning more about the Xistodesmidae of the eastern U.S. What source do you use to identify members of this family? Is there a published key? I am more than willing to investigate male gonopods for id'ing. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated... Thank you. -Jeff
