termite soldier, prob. Reticulitermes - Reticulitermes
Munson Trails, Apalachicola NF, Leon County, Florida, USA
January 18, 2010
This was under a small log in damp sand near a wetland in sandhill habitat. I have other images of this soldier as well as some of the workers if that might help.

What's up with the "obsolete page to be deleted"?
If I understand correctly, these will be moved to a different classification system rather than deleted. What's with the obsolete page to be deleted thing? One of the great things about bugguide is that if I reference a picture, it keeps that reference ID# no matter what identifications are given/changed and I don't see why that should change because of some lumping. Is this not so anymore, or am I misunderstanding something? Any help from anyone would be most appreciated.

Ditto here.
I went looking for some giant termite pix and now see this deletion notice.

OK, answered my own question: all moved to Termitoidae.
