Worm - Flat Head

Worm - Flat Head
Sandy Hook, Mississippi, USA
November 4, 2005
Size: about an inch
Found under some bark from a tree blown down by huricane Katrina.

Oops!
My mistake. I didn't look closely enough :-)Moved back to UI larvae *under* Buprestidae from Metallic Wood-boring Beetles.

Definitely Buprestidae.

Moved

Buprestid beetle larvae
So-called metalic borers, flat-head borers, or jewel beetles. I've never had any success rearing buprestids to see what they look like as adults. Once I remove them from under the bark, they last no more than a week it seems. Here's a link to the guide pages.
