What is on the back? - Melanophthalma

Hi WonGun Kim -- I just decided to register with this forum and am leaving notes on potential species IDs for arthropod parasitic fungi.

This stuff on the back is definitely a member of Laboulbeniales fungi (ascomycetes), and I suspect it may be a member of Dimorphomyces or Dimeromyces.

Probably fungi

of the order Laboulbeniales. They are specialists on insect exoskeletons. I have found them most often on carabids. Look here in BugGuide under that name for more information, images, and discussion.

Many Harmonia axyridis examples here. Just one carabid example--if BugGuide has others, I'd be interested to know.
