Wolf Spider? - Philodromus praelustris

Wolf Spider? - Philodromus praelustris
Auburn, Washington, USA
April 21, 2004
No web. Some kind of hunter? I've never seen one this color in the PNW.

Philodromid Crab Spider
Female, of the genus Philodromus. Likely P. praelustris. The wide cephalothorax is diagnostic of crab spider. The counter-shading - white below, is diagnostic of philodromus. What size would you estimate?

Length
About 10-12mm or so. The 'trough' it is sitting in the corner of is about 3/4 inch wide...

That's confirmatory
P. praelustris. A large crab spider. I have many photos unfortunately on slide film.

Slide Film By Jove!
Thanks for the ID. My Epson scanner takes care of slides and negatives. It's sweet. If you don't have one, you should think about getting one.

By Jove! I do believe (He, She, It, Whatever) is missing the second left leg.....

Missing leg
Looks like the second right to me.
