Got something similar..
...last year & someone on BG ID'd it as a Cynomya species. Not sure if it's quite the same, but might be worth looking at:

 
Wow, that really does look incredibly similar
I'm not experienced with many bugs, except for spiders, so I personally don't know what I should be looking for. I'm leaving it in the hands of those more experienced than I. Maybe they'll see something in that Cynomya sp. Thank you so much for your help!

Subscutellum
Tachinidae and related families are distinguished by the size of the subscutellum. This view might resolve the question, for somebody who knows what a subscutellum looks like.

I did a google search for subscutellum and found these images: http://www.nku.edu/~dahlem/ForensicFlyKey/Subscutellum.htm

I even still have the fly, if another photo or two is needed. When possible I usually keep the specimen until after a sure ID is made...just in case.
