I have some trouble IDing these, particularly if they're posed, but think the ID holds. In addition to gestalt, I'm looking at the hairness of this one and enlarged femur, though the latter feature is found on some other syrphids, notably Syritta pipiens.

Actually I'm pretty sure that's either Xylota or Chalcosyrphus... and you almost have to look at the metasternum to tell the difference between those two. These two genera have a very concave face in between the antennal insertions and the oral margin, which doesn't extend very far between the eyes. If you look at a good lateral of lejops, they have a tubercule on the face, and many species have a face that projects forward and downwards to verying degrees. their scutum is also usually striped.
