Dung Beetle - Geotrupes balyi

Dung Beetle - Geotrupes balyi
Upshur County, West Virginia, USA
October 4, 1986
Geotrupes? Geotrupes blackburnii was the closest I could come. Affirmations, denials, corrections, comments appreciated.

Fifteen years later
Fifteen years after the original post, I have replaced the photo with one better sized, cropped, sharpened, etc. Not a great original to work with--it was on color negative film, ISO 400, or ASA 400 as we said in those days.

not G. blackburnii
Hard to be 100% from this photo, but this looks like G. balyi. The color balance looks to be a little off - too purple?
