Schnauzer weevil - Sitona hispidulus

Schnauzer weevil - Sitona hispidulus
Hollis, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, USA
November 2, 2005
Nice whiskers on that pup. Apparently blown out of oak tree on windy day.

Moved
Moved from Sitona.
Pretty characteristic species.

Thanks, Boris,
for giving my schnauzer a name?

Curculionidae: Sitona sp.
Looks like a Sitona to me.

You mean it's not a schnauzer? ; - )
Weevils are a bit intimidating to me. I'll have to try to get better aquainted one of these days. I see my work in the US as training for a 20-year stint in the tropics, and there are certainly loads of weevils there.
