I believe this is a Chrysomedlid beetle, Cryptocephalus calidus.

There are 77 spp. of Cryptocephalus north of Mexico. (1)

The following spp. occur in FL (2) and resemble this image based on specimens in the TAMUIC:

It looks alot like your beetle, with the bright yellow, this one looks a bit worn, and it had a missing leg.
