Chauliognathus basalis

Chauliognathus basalis
Colorado Springs, El Paso County, Colorado, USA
September 29, 2009
Size: 4mm
Maybe this one belongs somewhere in the Lygaeidae (Seed bug) family? Or maybe not.
By size and shape it would seem so, but I have not been able to match up the color pattern. Any ideas?

Size: 4mm
