Dog biting lice - Trichodectes canis
Georgia, USA
These lice were submitted for identification. The hair shown is dog hair. Even after preservation in alcohol, these lice remained attached to the hair.

This photograph and a photograph of some detached lice from the same sample (Bug Guide photo # 369121) were identified by Dr. Nancy Hinkle, Veterinary Entomologist at the University of Georgia.

The species is Trichodectes canis.
