Found these on a wild grape vine. What struck me is the unique coloration, and the symmetry of their placement along the leaf. I dioscovered them very late in the season. There were about 15 or so sharing the same leaf. You cannot see the other 12 or so on the opposite side of the leaf.

Argidae
This is a species of Arge, but grape has never been recorded as a host plant for this genus. Very unusual. Would sure like to see adults of this.

Sawfly larvae
These are sawfly larvae, and I'm going to guess family Argidae--see for instance this one, which feeds on oak:
