Common name "Blind Click Beetle"
Yours truly had not noticed the two other common names out there for this species: "Blind Click Beetle" and "Small-eyed Click Beetle". Thus I've changed the name in the guide to "Blind Click Beetle". You will want to change the title for your photo at some point for consistency, I suppose.

Sorry about the poor research--I had just been looking at Dillon's plates and not the text or other references.

Yet Another Name...
I have seen very similar beetles listed as "eyed elaters".

 
Related species
That's another species in this genus, Alaus oculatus. In that one, the "eyes" are more open.
