Prey - Diogmites - female

Prey - Diogmites - Female
Roadside Park near Lorenzo, Crosby County, Texas, USA
August 30, 2009
In the tangle of legs, wings and eyes, it was initially difficult to discover who had whom in this Robber Fly on Robber Fly violence. This was the loser.

Revisiting this
And I cannot make this into any of the Texas Diogmites. It seems too pale even for the new species. I am wondering now if it is not a Saropogon. Will have Dr. Fisher take a look.

I would call this one Diogmit
I would call this one Diogmites sp. -- based on overall 'look' plus the closed cell m3. Can't see enough detail (e.g. of antennal flagellum) to contradict this ID.

Moved
Moved from Robber Flies.

Interesting
Diogmites female. May be the new species being defined by Dr. Barnes. I can't remember if I am allowed to use the name yet or not, so I will hold and check.

Thanks-
I do have a few other images of this if it might prove helpful with an ID.

hmm...
how come 'Roadside' is spelled correctly here but as 'Rao...' on pix 2 & 3? do you fill every form manually??? there's no need if you use the 'add image' feature under the initial pic of the series

As I was adding
the pictures I noticed I had misspelled the word on the first, went back to the initial picture to change it and thought it would change all of them. Should have checked each image.

you don't seem to take advantage of the cookies
once you have filled any box of the form, the text used in that box will be available as a drop-down list during the session [i.e. until you log out from BG] as you mouse-click that box, or enter the first letter, when you open the submission form again to upload another series.
So, after you posted the 'Hunter', the 'City/Location' box would offer you the 'Roadside Park near Lorenzo' string once you type 'r' in the box.
[NB: this does not apply to the 'Remarks' box]
