Unknown Weevil - Mesagroicus hispidus

Unknown Weevil - Mesagroicus hispidus
Jepson Prairie Preserve, Solano County, California, USA
February 20, 2010
Size: 1/4 of an inch
Found this while shooting other insects.

Mesagroicus, maybe hispidus -- R.S. Anderson det.
Moved tentatively from Broad-nosed Weevils.

ID
Looks to be a Sitona but not enough characters visible to be sure of species and the genus may be another. An Entiminae but need a dorsal view and a head on view in this large subfamily.

nice; will ask around
Moved from ID Request.
