red-tailed flower buprestid - Acmaeodera flavomarginata

red-tailed flower buprestid - Acmaeodera flavomarginata
World Birding Center HQ at Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park, Hidalgo County, Texas, USA
One of several species (forms?) of small, metallic, torpedo-shaped beetles I have observed on flowers (mostly, I think, Viguera stenoloba, Skeleton-leaf Goldeneye) in the butterfly garden here at the WBC HQ. They seem like buprestids to be, and within that, most resemble the genus Acmaeodera. Any confirmation or further identification would be most welcome!

Mimicry
Looking at this shot, I think this beetle is a mimic of a cantharid beetle in reverse. Cantharids are foul-tasting and avoided by many predators.
