Syrphus torvus

This is a Syrphus. Not an Eupeodes
Hi,

This specie is an Syrphus spec.. An Eupeodes does not have the stripes you see on the thorax. Also the shape of the yellow markings on the abdomen or resable a Syrphus more.
See for example the Syrphus torvus specie: www.syrphidae.com

Cheers,
Bastiaan

No
This is a Syrphid, but not in the genus Helophilus. It belongs to the tribe Syrphini, and I think genus Eupeodes

Thanks for your help. srhule

ok.. I think I see the difference...
I was just commenting that it looked like mine. Upon closer inspection of photos I see that mine has a much more defined stripped mid plate, where the ones of his type have a more shiny metallic look to them..

Thanks for the info. Every incorrect guess I learn something new.. :)
