Misumenoides formosipes? - Misumenoides formosipes - female

Misumenoides formosipes? - Misumenoides formosipes - Female
Flat Island Park, Lake County, Florida, USA
November 13, 2005
Is this a correct ID? It's very similar to Photo#32351. This is a relatively large yellow crab spider with an eggsac. She's one of the largest flower crab spiders that I've ever seen.
However, she looked as though she wouldn't make it through the first strong cold front this winter.

I'm no expert,
but since no-one else has offered an opinion yet...
I wrote the guide page for Misumenoides formocipes, where you'll see the identifying characteristic is supposed to be a ridge below the eyes, which I think I see here.
I agree it also looks a lot like
So, I think you have the right ID.

Spelling?
formosipes would seem to make more sense (Latin for "beautiful feet"), but I see both that and formocipes all over the web. Is there any authoritative way to check which is correct?

good observation
You seem to be correct. It appears that the correct spelling would be formosipes. Each of the sites that I checked that were "official" sites do have it spelled with the "s". Thanks for the correction, Chuck.

Checked our agreed standard
the World Spider Catalog and it has formosipes. Will change the guide page and add the current spelling as an alternate.
