Spider Dome - Climacia areolaris

Spider Dome - Climacia areolaris
Lac Giffard, North, Around James bay lowlands County, Quebec, Canada
August 1, 2009
Size: 2 cm circumference
Only 1 larva inside, along with what looked to be a dead ant.

Information about this cocoon
Hi Cal, do you have one of those? I'm looking for one for research purpose. Thanks

Moved
Moved from Climacia.
Seems safe to call this Climacia areolaris based on the range info on the genus guide page.

Moved
Moved from ID Request. Spongillafly cocoon for sure (the pupa is hidden inside it). The larvae feed on freshwater sponges, then crawl out of the water to spin these amazing structures.

Looks like
a Spongillafly pupa (Sisyridae):

But there may be other similar structures with which I'm not familiar, so please wait for a second opinion.
