Springtails - Hypogastrura

Springtails - Hypogastrura
Westborough Wildlife Management Area, Westborough, Worcester County, Massachusetts, USA
March 19, 2010
Size: ~1 mm
Is this another situation where we need to count the setae between the eyes? If so, I'll see what I can come up with. Obvious anal spines on these, for a change. I watched these springtails for several minutes and never saw one jump; they were just meandering around on the surface of a rock.

Moved

Hypogastrura sp.

Love this shot, Charley!
