Ellychnia sp. - Firefly beetle? -
Ellychnia greeni
Vancouver, Clark County, Washington, USA
February 5, 2010
Size: 12mm
Few of these beetles were sitting on bushes in a park. My first guess was E. corrusca.

Ellychnia
Ellychnia

Three according to Fender.
Fender (1970) lists three
Ellychnia
species occurring in WA:
greeni
,
facula
and
hatchi
. From my limited examination of western material, I would suggest that your image is of
greeni
, based on the elevated costae and pronotal vittae. There are probably a number of images of this species on BG already ... haven't gotten around to them.

E. greeni
Great, looks like I have at least two species because my second one from central WA has not an elevated costae and slightly smaller. Thanks!

I'd agree
especially with the broad black markings on the lateral pronotal margins.

I should say
I agree with genus, but there are others in the NW it could be.
