False Flower Beetle Larva

False Flower Beetle Larva
Little Presque Isle, Marquette Township, Marquette County, Michigan, USA
April 1, 2010
No idea what this is. Found under a rock with plenty of ants and little aphid like creatures. The rock was in a heavily sandy red pine dominated forest. Here is a picture of its "friends" .

Awesome!
This is the larva of a False flower beetle, family Scraptiidae. That bulb on the end of the abdomen is a diagnostic characteristic of the family. I'm glad you got this shot, there aren't many images of the larvae.
