Laphria sp - Laphria affinis

Laphria sp - Laphria affinis
Boston, Massachusetts, USA
August 29, 2004
I searched the guide, but failed to come to any (positive) conclusion. Unfortunately, I have no reliable indication of size. Any suggestion for the "sp." of this Laphria sp. ?

Wow!
Lovely portrait, whatever it is!

Laphria
This is likely L affinis or virginica. If it was not a huge fly. And it appears to be male. The hair does not look quite as luxuriant as the affinis I have seen. Facially it is affinis. The late August date also favors affinis.
