Enormous beetle or roach on my kitchen window this morning. I've never seen anything like it. Help please.

We live next to a swamp. What a relief that it's not a roach.

a cockroach...
might be prefered...these belostomatids can have a painful bite :-) But not to worry--they are harmless :-)

It won't bite me.
Its size alone was kept me far from it. My husband took the picture.
