Explanation of Names
Species name gibbosus from Latin gibb- humped (1).
Food
Larvae feed on other insects, mostly bees, caught by the mother. Adults feed on nectar.
Remarks
Each female raises its own brood. However several wasps have been seen sharing one burrow's entrance.
