Capraita sp - Capraita scalaris

Capraita sp - Capraita scalaris
Middleburg, Clay County, Florida, USA
April 8, 2010
Size: 5.5mm
Light trap. Keys out in Am. Beetles, Vol 2, Pgs 629-633 (1,58,59,62,63,65) as a Capraita.
Eight species in FL, only three of which are in the Guide. My new references have not yet
arrived, so putting this up for the experts to pick from C. indigoptera, C. quercata,
C. saltator, C. scalaris or C. spilonota

Moved
Moved from Capraita.

Also reached C. scalaris with Blake (1927) key, covering all species.
cite: "Specimens examined from Florida present an unusually varied pattern in elytral markings"

C. scalaris
Keys out to C. scalaris in Ciegler (2007); not sure if it could be a FL endemic though that is not covered by that reference.

C. spilonota it is not
Have studied description.

Basic pattern of spilonota pretty similar, but
1) basal margin of elytra narrwly black;
2) second lateral spot equidistant from 2nd and 3rd median spot
(not close to 2nd, as here)
