Kiowa or Variable dancer? -

San Antonio/Leon Creek Greenway, Bexar County, Texas, USA
April 11, 2010
I'm getting a bit rusty with my damselfly identifications these days; is this a Kiowa or a Variable Dancer? Or neither?

Familiar Bluet - Enallagma civile (male)
Please note the comments by me on this image.
The Kiowa and Variable Dancers tend to hold their wings above the abdomen while the Enallagma species hold them by their abdomen.
Also all
Argia
species in Texas have the cerci (upper terminal appendages) much shorter than the paraprocts (lower terminal appendages).

Good Advice
Hi William,
Thanks for the ID, and the good general advice for determining the genera.
