Lytta magister

Lytta magister
Rasor Road, near Soda Lake, Mojave Desert, San Bernardino County, California, USA
April 6, 2005
Seen chomping on the ligules of Rafinesquia neomexicana. Rear tarsus rests on a head of Encelia fruticosa; both plants were observed to be part of the day's diet. - Many specimen of L. magister observed in this location.

Lovely.
Really fine image, Hartmut! Thank you, also, for sharing your knowledge of the flora. That is really valuable to have insect-plant associations.
